Training days are regularly run for our network of Sima coaches. These events cover a variety of different, current coaching topics. Please contact us to book your place.

Coaching and Identity - September 2012

The focus of our September Network Training Day is 'Coaching and Identity'. It will be held in Oxford on Friday 28th September 2012 .

Sima focuses on using achievement stories as a way of helping people make sense of’ their experience. This process can affirm their identity and shape how they see themselves, especially in times of transition. How do we as coaches, build upon this aspect of coaching in our application sessions?

Who are you as a coach? How does your self-concept influence your coaching? What are some key ways to effectively help our clients as they face identity issues in their lives?

Explore New Ideas Together

Come along and explore ways of working with identity in coaching. There will be plenty to explore and discuss, including:

  • How does the client’s role in their organisation or their wider context influence their sense of identity?
  • How do we identify underlying limiting beliefs or labels that restrict our client’s sense of self?
  • How do we work with our client's choices and core values so that they can move forward with integrity?
  • What part does risk and safe experimentation play in shaping a person’s new identity?

Nick Isbister will also provide an overview of the core psychological theories about identity and the development of self. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and for open discussion.
