About Us
simadirections is based upon the Who do you think you are?© coaching programme, which is used globally by Sima (UK) in major corporations in a wide range of fields (e.g. BP, BT, Ernst and Young, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Glaxo Smith Kline, NHS, ICI, J P Morgan, Lloyds TSB, O2, PWC and Vodafone), as well as charities such as Oxfam, CRAC and the Bible Society. It incorporates the widely recognised and validated SIMAź process. The Who do you think you are? is a product of SIMA ( UK ) Ltd.
Our coaches have a similarly wide background:
Judy Elliman has twenty years’ experience as a management consultant and executive coach with major PLC’s and charities. She specialises in providing executive coaching and management consultancy support to companies and individuals in career transition and development. She uses her expertise in motivational analysis, her facilitative approach and life experience to help clients explore their concerns, make strategic choices and move forwards. She is the co-founder and joint Managing Director of Sima (UK) Ltd as well as a partner in People Management International, LLC. Judy was formerly a teacher and has completed five years’ of postgraduate study in counselling, psychotherapy and the Gestalt approach to organisational coaching as well as being a certified NLP Practitioner.
James Fischer has a BA in Economics and Politics and worked for BP plc where for over 20 years he specialised as a careers coach with experience of assessing, developing and coaching employees at all levels in the organisation. He now works as an independent careers consultant with a special interest in helping younger people make the right initial career decisions and has co-developed the simadirections programme. James is married with 3 children and lives in Bucks.
Tom Thorpe has 15 years’ experience in consulting, coaching and counselling with individuals in a wide range of settings. He specialises in working with people facing difficult issues or career decisions and he is a counsellor on life and work-related issues as well as a trainer of mentors for young people. Tom has a degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge. After a scientific career in the energy sector, he made a career move by training as a counsellor and psychotherapist, as well as a SIMA coach. He has co-authored several programmes for young people including simadirections. Having been a leading expert in his previous scientific fields but finding a lack of satisfaction in his achievements, he knows from his own experience the value in “coming home” to one’s true career or vocation.
