Tom Thorpe - Director of Programmes

Tom has thirteen years’ experience in consulting, coaching and counselling with individuals in a wide range of settings. He specialises in working with people facing difficult issues or career decisions, using his wide experience and training as both coach and counsellor to help people identify their core issues and develop answers that work for them.

In addition to being a SIMAŽ coach, he is a counsellor on life- and work-related issues as well as a trainer of mentors for young people using the It’s InU2 programme. He develops training courses utilising SIMAŽ and other approaches for organisations that are tailored to their needs. He has developed a young person’s programme, that helps school leavers and graduates to make the best choices regarding their selection of courses or first job.

Tom has a degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge, after which he pursued a scientific career in the energy sector, which led to him becoming a world expert providing advice to international bodies and governments. He then made a career move by training as a counsellor and psychotherapist, becoming an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. He has since gone on to extend these skills into coaching with both groups and in one-to-one settings and has worked with a wide range organisations, as well as with individuals ranging from young people still at school to CEOs. Having been a leading expert in his previous scientific fields but finding a lack of satisfaction in his achievements, he knows from his own experience the value in “coming home” to one’s true career or vocation.
